Fat Tuesday in Sweden
Today is the official day of the Swedish Semla. This is the way Fat Tuesday is celebrated in Sweden. In the deep South they got Mardi Gras but here everyone is taking a big bite of this very Swedish delicacy. A Semla consists of a sweet cardemom bun filled with almond paste and topped with whipped cream. The best part is the thin "hat" of the bun that is dusted with confection sugar. Too many of these would sure make you fat but one or two will just make you happy. They have been sold ever since after Christmas but the peak of height being today. At work they ordered one for each of us so we had a big delivery of these yummy Swedish buns.
