I am so happy that we found our skates. C brought them up to Stockholm from his parents farm down in Blekinge where we had stored some things. Last winter we were not able to go skating because we did not have our gear. As you see these are a special kinds of skates that are a lot longer than regular ice skates.
We were not alone. There were quite a lot of people out skating so it seemed safe. Just the mere thought of breaking trough the ice sends chills down my spine. I just don't want to get that sort of hands on experience of how cold the water is. We did bring extra clothes that would be dry just for the worst case senario. But we did not have to worry because the lake was frozen solid.
It was a lot of fun. I have tried it before but that was at least 10 years ago. I actually did not like it so much before. I don't know why. I remember I had trouble getting the right technique and my feet hurt and it was just hard. But this time it went so much easier and really was a lot of fun.
We skated for about an hour and both of us had a great time. So hopefully we will be able to go out for a longer skate preferably on a sunnier day again some day soon. I like winter so much more when I can do things like these. It is a great way to spend time out doors.
Today Monday there was quite a flurry of snow flakes in the air as I biked to work. So we will see how much snow will come down today. Besides the ice skating we had a quiet and slow weekend. C unfortunately did catch a bit of my cold so he did not feel so good Saturday. We watched movies. I made home made pizza and I also watched the country music award show from Nashville that they sent on Swedish tv late Saturday night.
