Not very far from where we live there is a sort of state park, the Nacka Nature Preserve Area. We had not yet explored this area so we decided it was the perfect day to do so. We took the car and the drive there did not take more than 10 minutes. We saw lots of people that were out on the ice walking, skating, skiing and enjoying the nice weather.
I was very happily surprised that this great area is so close to where we live. I am sure that we will come here many times. It ought to be real nice here in once spring arrives also. It was close, easy to get here, and no problem to find parking once we got there. No entrance fees required as in most state parks in the US.
We took a nice and long walk. Starting to walk around the frozen lake but then we decided we would walk on the ice to be able to walk in the sunshine. The lake was deep frozen so that was no problem at all and there were lots of people with their kids out on the lake.
Some skaters taking a break in the sunshine. Probably they had brought coffee in a thermos with them and some sandwiches or cinnamon buns. A traditional Swedish "fika" outdoors.
Lots of activities were going on. The Swedes are very active. Some were skiing and some were skating and others like us just walking.
Even those with small babies put there skates on and brought the stroller a long and skated on the ice.
We saw this man skating with a kite. If you click on the picture you can probably see the kite better. It did not seem very easy. It was kind of windy and the kite was flying in all directions.
Here I am on my walk on ice.
Even the sunset was kind of nice today. Slowly days are getting longer and that feels great. Now the sun is up until around 5 pm and even if that is still kind of early to set it is a lot better than 2:30 as in mid December.
Well I guess y'all in the US are getting ready for the Super Bowl. We won't watch it. We are not that into American fotball and also it would be way to late for us to stay up and watch the game. I hope y'all enjoy and that it is a good game. They did write about it in the papers here even.
