Today I am just so tired. I think I stayed up way past my bed time yesterday. I am just so into my book, "The Help" by Kathryn Stockett. It was maybe a little slow in the beginning but now the more I read the more interesting it becomes. So yesterday I had a hard time putting it down on time and therefore woke up very tired this morning. I guess a good book is still worth the sacrifice :-)
My reading has had its ups and downs. There were some years when I hardly read a book at all but now I seem to have found myself back into reading mode again. It makes me happy. I was on the look out for this book already before we left Alabama but then it was only to be found in hard cover and I wanted it in paper back. I love the web book shop, Adlibris. They really have a huge selection of books and they are also much cheaper than buying books in the regular book store. Book stores here are just not like Barns and Noble. I miss that place.
The Help is actually set in the Deep South, in Mississippi during the sixties. It is about three women. Even if it is kind of tragic it is about what times were like in the south where black maids raised white children but at the same time were not trusted not to steal the silver. This book is filled with the details for life in the south and language really reflects the dialect and the way people speak in the south. But tonight I am making sure to head to bed in time. I think I will just take the book with me and read on my way to and back from work when I ride the subway.
The other day when I made a stop in the city to buy my new tea cup from Höganäs I also got this nice plate for fruit. I love the color. It makes me think of spring. I also love the shape.
