The weekend flew by way too quickly. It was great to have C home. So what did we do? Friday evening we stayed at home just having a good dinner and just hanging out. Even if Skype is great it does not compare at all to actually being together in the same room.
I am not the only one doing a Christmas sneak peak, more and more lights are coming up on peoples balconies.
We had our own version of Thanksgivning Sunday evening. I made pumpkin pie that turned out really nice. Instead of a huge turkey (which is way too much for two people) we had chicken that I stuffed with herbs, garlic and pieces of citrus fruit. I made an orange sauce that went well with the chicken instead of the traditional gravy and roasted potatoes in the oven rather than mashed potatoes. It was a a good ending to a nice weekend.
November just does not present the best weather in Sweden. All the beautiful fall colors are long gone and now it is just greay, wet and foggy. Some days you just hardly get any daylight at all. It is hard to take pictures now. There just isen't enough light. Daylight hours I am at work so I have to take all the pictures during the weekend.
Saturday we went to the movies. One of the best ways to spend a dark and rainy day. We saw Argo. It was just launched this weekend at cinemas here in Sweden. A good movie well worth seeing.
Saturday evening we were invited for dinner at C's sister's place. We had a very nice time there. We are so used to having our car and miss having it on weekends like this. Even if public transportation works great most of the time in Sweden it still is a lot easier to get out into the suburbs with a car.
Sunday we met up with some friends in our old neighborhood at Hammarbysjostad. We had a long "fika" at Fine Foods, that is a deli shop/restaurant . They just have the best cardamom buns there, soft, sweet and freshly baked. Perfect combination with the Chai latte tea that I had. We biked like we used to during the days when we lived here. On our way home I crashed on my bike. Too dark at some parts to see all the bumps in the road. I got a bruise on my arm and knee but other than that I was fine. I was really worried about my camera that I had in my purse which flew off when I crashed. I was lucky and it was fine. I was mostly chocked by the incident and I felt glad that C was there with me. Now I feel fine. I added an extra light on my bike so hopefully I will be able to detect all of those bumps and potholes on time and not crash again.
