This is what it looks like right now. The raining stopped and the sun peaked through the clouds. It is supposed to freeze up again during the afternoon and evening. You bet it's going to be slippery when the rain turns to ice. All those white fluffy piles of snow have now shrunk into grey and brownish heaps of compact snow.
Well I got the chance to try out my skis anyway just before the weather turned milder. I found the skis and ski boots in the waste disposal room in our building in Hammarbysjostad. I tried on the ski boots and they fit perfectly! I had all the gear I needed for free! This was the first time I had the chance to try it out. My parents live close to a golf coarse and there are always many people going cross country skiing there. As the temperature was rising and the snow was getting more slushy there was more friction between the snow and the skis but still I had a nice hour and a half on my skis.
Now I am back home at my place. Very nice. I am taking today and tomorrow off from work. It is just so nice to enjoy a few slow days. Sleeping in, not having to rush out of bed but rather being able to linger in bed reading a book. C comes home this evening. He has celebrated Christmas with his parents in Blekinge. I hardly got to see him before he was off for Christmas so I am very happy to get him home again.
C called me yesterday to share something that really surprised me. His parents have just given us the most fantastic, generous and amazing Christmas/birthday gift - a trip to Florida for next Christmas!!!! They are taking us and C's sister Mia with her husband and their two little girls to Florida. My jaw dropped to the floor and I felt like I just won the lottery or something. I can't thank them enough. This is the most kind, wonderful and generous gift ever. Even if winter is pretty in many ways I am not a true winter lover. I love sunshine and the beach even better. I love the US and I love Florida. I feel very lucky and thankful for next Christmas already.
