C will be sailing around in the archipelago of Stockholm that consists of thousands of islands of various sizes. Many are deserted, others inhabited, a few belong to the military and no trespassing is allowed. The archipelago of Stockholm differs from the one located outside of Gothenburg. The Stockholm archipelago is greener as it is covered by more trees and vegetation whereas the Gothenburg one mostly consists of smooth rock surface. I like both equally much. We lived in Gothenburg for 3 years and grew to love that kind just as much as the one here in Stockholm.
Swedes love to sail generally. I think you can easily divide the population into two major categories when it comes to vacation types. One have the ones that spend their vacation sailing and then you have the other large group that spend their vacation at their cabin or family cabin. If you ask any one randomly 90% will give you either one of these two answers.Or at least it seems so.
There are lots of smaller islands that are private. If I had a cabin somewhere out in the archipelago I would love to have my own private island. Actually a friend of ours has or at least had a private island that belonged to his family out in the Stockholm archipelago. When he and his wife got married they had the wedding party on an old steam boat. The boat took all the guests to their very own island where coffee and the wedding cake was served and then the boat took all the guest back to the city center.
This was one of the small islands that we passed this weekend when we were on our way to Utö. There was just one single house to be spotted. This really looks like something out of a tv commercial about keeping nature clean and recycling. It is just so beautiful, so perfect.
