The Swedes love the saying that there ain't any bad weather only bad choices of clothes. I put on my best Swedish spirit and my rain gear and got on my bike and set of across town. I used to bike this stretch across town every day when we lived in Hammarbysjostad. So I used to pass this meter that keeps track of how many bikes that pass here each day. A rainy and cold day at the end of October does not generate many bikes passing as you can see. The number used to be around 3000 to 4000 during a regular summer day in June.
I love farmers markets in general. I am so happy I found out about this one last fall. Everything just looks so fresh and great. It is something special about buying produce directly from the hands that have grown and planted and tended these vegetables and fruits. They just look better because they got that TLC. Here you get exactly what is in season at the very moment. Besides fruits and vegetables they also sold bread, cheese, some meat, honey ,jam and pickles.
Yummy Swedish apples fresh from the tree.
Even if the rain kept pouring down the fall leaves still looked very pretty.
More and more leaves are coming down now. The temperature is supposed to drop a bit lower by next week so I guess soon they will all be down on the ground.
The raining intensified during the evening. I kick started my birthday a little in advance already this Saturday. Had some friends over for dinner. Had one of those great girl evenings catching up on all kinds of topics. Could not imagine a better way to start celebrating in advance. Sunday was not any better weatherwise. Went over to a friend and baked bagles. We boiled them in water and all that and then had fresh warm bagles with coffee and cream cheese, yummy!
