Saturday was one of those gorgeous first fall days when the air is clear, cool but not too cool and the sun is shining brightly. Those kind of days you just can't waste away here in Sweden. Get out, stay out and soak in that sunshine until you feel like a sun drenched sponge. Actually since it was just as nice Friday I took the opportunity to soak in some sunshine as well by going for a run during lunch to Hagaparken. That felt awesome.
We did two different things on Saturday. As you can see from the picture above we decided to drive out to Ulriksdal's castle and gardens. It is so beautiful out here. The perfect thing to do on a day like this one.
But first we started by a short trip up to Mosebacke. Poor C got a flat tire on his bike as he was on his way home Friday evening. He first planned on walking home with the bike but as he reached Slussen he was too tried to keep dragging that bike so he parked it here. We therefore took the car and as C got to get his bike I stayed by the car and took some pictures. This is a very nice area of Stockholm that offers a lot of Jazz and other live music.
There is a theater here "Södra Teatern". I grabbed one of their fall programs and flipped through it. I would really like to go and see some show or concert here.
But after leaving Mosebacke and the city we drove out to Ulriksdals Castle and gardens. The last time I was here must have been summer 2008. I remember driving out here and taking my parents dog (Emil) with me for a nice walk here.
I love the colors of these Dahlias. They are so pretty.
Old tall and majestic oaks. They are truly impressive.
We took a small path that followed the shore line right by the water. Again I love Stockholm for being totally surrounded by bodies of water.
As we were about to leave we discovered that there was a wedding going on in the small chapel by the Castle. Men dressed in tails and the ladies in fancy dresses. We did catch a glimpse of the bride as well.
On our way home C discovered that his cell phone was missing so we called it using mine in the car. As we did not hear it ring we realized it must have slipped out of his pocket when he laid down in the grass. So we turned around and drove back. Sure enough he was lucky and found it lying in the grass where we had been.
Sunday the rain started to pour down in the evening and continued all night. Today it has continued to rain all day so far. Actually it has rained quite a lot during September so far. My parents have picked so much mushrooms that they decided not to pick any more as the freezer is completly filled now.
