Unfortunatley the weather did not cooperate with us. The morning had started out very nice but by the time we reached Mariefred the rain was softly drizzling down. We took a tour of the castle before our lunch which was set for 1 pm. I have been here several times with my parents but it is always nice to come here.
C's parents had brought their dogs with them (they live in the southern part of Sweden in Blekinge and had driven up Friday with the dogs). Here is the old daxhound, Annie. She loves C as most dogs do. Her favorite position is to lie over his face and have his warm breath on her body.
Mariefred is a beautiful small town and the castle is situated in very beautiful surroundings close by water. This an old charming town and a perfect day trip visist from Stockholm in summer.
Today the rain was drizzling down and most people were walking around with their umbrellas up including myself.
We had a very nice lunch at the historic inn from 1609. The castle is built in red brick. It is very large. There are guided tours in many different languages daily during summer and in fall during the weekends.
We left Mariefred and drove back to Stockholm. There we enjoyed some time with C's family at C's sisters house before we headed back to our place. Today is Sunday and it is election Sunday here in Sweden. It will be interessting to wake up tomorrow and see who has won the election. There are two large blocks here, the liberals and the socialists. The tie between them is very even this year so it will be interesting to see whom takes on the victory and whom will govern Sweden for the next four years.
