It all feels strange now. I am sitting here in my almost empty apartment. Just a few pieces of furniture left. I waved the rest of my home goodbye last evening. Saw the container truck drive off with all our stuff. The container was similar in size to the one we had when moving to Alabama in 2006.
The moving guys were here yesterday morning at 8 am sharp as they had said. They worked all day long. It took them a couple of hours longer than they first had calculated. That is always the way it is one of them said. They did a great job, worked efficently and did they job well. It was a team of two guys. They packed it all and loaded the truck. I am glad there was no heavy snowfall either so that made things a little easier.
Now it does feel very real, I am moving! I have one bed, one couch that I am sitting on. No tv, no dining room table, no chairs. The place is stripped. It echos. Yesterday evening I cooked myself a simple pasta and had a glass of wine. I lit three candles I had left and really had a quiet evening. I have left some glasses and some plates but only one set of utensils, one fork, one knife and one spoon.
As the guys came in and started packing there was suddenly boxes and stuff everywhere. I had a corner where I was sitting with my computer most of the day. I did not want to get in the way. I just showed them and told them what to pack and then they did the rest.
Very quiet evening with my candles and computer. I only have this one floor light for the moment so I took it with me when I went to bed and moved it back out here this morning.
I could not take the orchids. They would have packed them if it would not have been so cold outside. The temperature at night will drop down to minus 15 or 20 here in Sweden by the end of the week. The container stays here in Sweden until they drive it down to Switzerland on Monday reaching us the 22:d or 23:d according to the schedule.
So this is what my home looks like at the moment. No clutter anyway ;-)
