After this grand road trip me and C have been able to add quite a few new red dots to our US map. We have added dots pretty much all over CA. We have different colors we use. The red dots mark where we have both been and then C has blue dots for the places he has been where I have not been and I have green dots for those places when it comes to me.
Even if we have been to quite a number of states and places in the US you can see there are still many places left to go even if we don't feel it necessary to visit every single state. We have our Bucket List doing all the national parks in the lower 48 to start with and then if there is time also do the ones in Alaska. On the West coast we still have Oregon and Washington state left. On the East coast we have plenty to cover and see. Next on my dream and wish list are the Rocky Mountains with Colorado, Wyoming and South Dakota. There are quite some grand and great national parks there that I would love to set foot in.
I think the world is such an amazing and fantastic place in general. There are just so many wonderful places to see and visit. I think travel is such a great way to learn new things. As you travel you learn about the culture, the people, history, geography and it sticks to your mind so much better than just reading about things in a book or seeing something on tv. As we travel I like to keep the guide book handy and read things about the places we pass by. Something else that is always right by my side and very often spread out on my lap is a map. I love maps. I want to see both where I am and where I am going. I love being on the go. We have realized that we are both way too restless to sit the the very same beach for an entire week or more.
I love the freedom you also have when going on road trips. We make a general plan but we don't book more than a night or two before we leave and then as we start we figure out how far we want to go each day and where we want to stop and what we want to see. But yes it does require quite a lot of planing and reading before you go. To me making the plans is at least half the fun of the trip.
Today Wednesday. Feels good to already have reached midweek. The rain has been pouring down the past day and night. I miss the sunshine a lot already but they say it is going to be better and dry up for tomorrow. Today I am so sore. Went to this Kettlebell workout yesterday that I have never been to before and boy those Kettlebells sure give you one hell of a good workout. Felt so stiff it was even hard to bend down to tie my shoes this morning.
