We are back in Sweden now. Just landed a few hours ago. We drove from Birmingham to Atlanta in a rental car and as we were reaching Atlanta we realized we had not downloaded the maps for Georgia on our navigator nor did we have any map in the car. However, luckily C did remember that one had to turn of towards Macon in order to get to the airport (no signs to the airport until after one had made the turn off for Macon). We made it on time for the flight and left the south at 3 pm landing in Amsterdam very early in the morning European time. Did not manage to get any sleep on the overseas flight but had a nap when we came home for a couple of hours. I still feel totally off track. Hope the jet lag won't be too bad to get over.
I know it is Friday and that means Friday theme but I will skip it this week. My brain is still on vacation mode and not on everyday life mode. Sweden greeted us with grey skies, rain and very cool temperatures compared to what we have gotten used to. My brain still seems to be in English mode as we have spoken nothing but English for the past two weeks. It has been great to get a high dose of English. Good for keeping the vocabulary up. Just a few pics of what we already miss.
Wish I could have packed some of the great Alabama weather. Our last week was perfect. Sunny with dry and cool air (cool meaning temperatures in the 70:ties around 23 degrees C). Miss the nice long walks with took together with Sadie the dog. Early mornings before the golfers were out on the golf course we could enjoy taking a walk there.
Tinkerbell keeping us company on the front porch.
Sweet Sadie following C around as always. When he took a nap she also took a nap right next to him. It was so sad to leave her. We tried to hide the suit cases so that she would not see them. C took her for a walk this morning just before we left as Kim and I loaded the luggage into the car before Sadie and C got back home. I think she knew anyway what was going on.
Miss the Southern flavors of good BBQ and of course our greatest favorite was getting many scoops of Edy's ice cream.
Happy C and happy Sadie together in a Happy Place. Love this picture of two great buddies hanging out.
I had my new buddy to hang out with as well. When he gets very comfortable he has the habit of drooling. My lap did get all wet but still I loved when he curled up like this next to me.
Miss the sunny days so much already. It sure felt like fall when we landed this morning. No more shorts. As I unpacked my suitcase I also realized it was time to put away my summer clothes. Fall is here and summer is clearly over here.
This morning just before we left we got a gift. The Gedgoudas family are just the greatest of friends and they are our American family. We love them dearly and feel very lucky to have made great friends with them. We have a home and family in Sweden and also a home and family in the US. We feel very lucky.
Going to end this post here. I feel my brain is working very slowly. Hopefully a good nights sleep will make me feel much better tomorrow morning.
