Continued to celebrate my birthday this weekend. I have never felt so celebrated as for this birthday. Friday I had invited some friends/co-workers over for dinner. I made pumpkin soup and rosemary scones that both turned out great. For dessert we had these super cute mini-cupcakes from Cupcake Stockholm. They are the perfect bite size. They have so many flavors to choose from. I always end up standing there for a looong time trying to decide which ones to pick. A dozen of these mini versions was just perfect for the four of us as we also had some cheese and fruit as well.
Saturday the birthday celebration continued as well when I headed out to my parents place. My dad and I celebrated our birthdays together this evening as my parents had taken a weekend vacation to Barcelona for my fathers birthday two weekends ago. Saturday was beautiful with clear blue skies but it was becoming more and more chilly. A clear night gave rise to a very cold clear morning. Sunday morning was gloriously beautiful as I woke up to a frozen and frosty world.
I took the opportunity to head outside before breakfast and snap a few pictures. This delicate coat of icy frost on the ground and on the leaves is just so beautiful. My mother's sweet peas and roses won't wake up again this season after this frosty night.
Winter is right around the corner.
The last fall colors are still on display. October is a beautiful month but it is coming to an end and the leaves are quickly dropping into larger and larger piles on the ground.
A lovely day with sunshine and clear crisp chilly air. Fall days like this one is just something that you have to make the most of and head outside and enjoy. Lots of people sitting outside on benches and steps, by coffee shops or just about anywhere soaking up the sunshine. At these northern latitudes the birds collect their seeds for the winter and people try to soak up as much sunshine as you can possibly get.
Beautiful beautiful Stockholm. Even if I am really exited about moving to Basel Stockholm will always have a special place in my heart.
Sunday became brunch day. I met up with my sister in law and my little niece at Djurgårdsbrunns värdshus. Mia and little Ella invited me for brunch with them to celebrate my birthday. I had never been here before but loved both the place and the brunch they served. They had this large outside deck where people were sitting in the sun when we arrived. They had this outside grill where one could order something to eat or drink but the brunch was served inside.
I loved the open fire place they had. It was really warm and cozy inside. The place seemed very popular. Every table was taken but Mia had made reservations for us ahead so we did not have to wait for a table. Brunch seems to have gotten more popular here compared to just a few years ago. For many places you have to make reservations at least a week ahead if you are planning to going out for brunch. We enjoyed a nice walk afterwards heading back. That walk felt so good after having eaten so much of a large but very yummy brunch selection.
As we headed back dusk was approaching. Today was the day when we switched over to day light saving time here in Sweden. It becomes dark so much earlier now. It is sad to realize that dusk arrives shortly after 4 pm. It is always nice to earn that extra hour never less only you adjust so quickly to that, the joy is very short lived. However, this morning I at first got a little confused as I woke up and it was so light outside. At least I get to bike to work when there is daylight outside for a while now even if it will get dark very early in the evenings from now on.
