This is what it looked like yesterday. You can summarize it with one word, GREY. It was as if there was this grey and wet blanket that was wrapped around Stockholm. It is about to get colder now so maybe it is about to turn into serious winter. Well enough complaints. Life has some bright sides also here in Sweden despite the awful November weather. Being close to family is such a joy again. Like this weekend we had a very nice and cosy dinner at C´s sisters place and we have spent many nice dinners and days out with my parents as well. Being close to family and friends is the best thing about being back in Sweden.
This year we won´t have to spend money on expensive air fare to get to Sweden and we won´t have to worry about spending all our vacation coming here either for christmas or during the summer.
Despite the horrible weather we decided to do something fun yesterday and head out. I wanted to go to one of Stockholm´s photography museums called Fotografiska. They had a nice exhibition about Guy van Sant who has taken a lot of polariods of both real famous actors as well as other less known people applying for movie parts. I had no idéa he was from Louiville, Kentucky of all places. There were also some other displays and exhibitions that were fun to check out. There was this exhibit about fashion photography that was really cool.
Another great thing about being back in Stockholm is being able to go to many more museums and fairs like this. I think both the civil rights museum and the art museum in Birmingham were really nice but I missed having more museums and more cultural events to go to like these.
This was the first time that I came to this museum but I liked it a lot. I just love photography as art. Going to something like this is great because I am filled with inspiration and ideas of cool angles and pictures that I myself would like to try out. Actually there will be a photography fair next weekend that I and C are planning on going to. We will also try to meet up with one of C´s old friend that also is into taking pictures.
Besides checking out the different exhibits we also lingered in the shop for quite some while. There were lots of nice and cool books about photography as well as those with really amazing pictures to admire. I bought a book about basic good to know stuff when setting your camera manually. I would love to take a course in photography. I will try to find one because I would like to learn more and really become confident and familiar with our new camera that we bought this year. So far I am still mostly using my old one because I find it so much easier to handle.
This weekend C decided it was time to give his bike a final wash and then to put it in the bike room with the other bikes down in the basement of the building. He decided the bike season for him has come to an end now. It is simply to cold and to dark. As it is going to get colder now also during this week it will probably get slippery as well. I think he made a good choice. So from now he will also take the tram and the subway. Today when I woke up there was beautiful white snow covering the ground. During the middle of the day it snowed quite a lot but during the evening most of it has melted away. However, more snow is to be expected. The arctic air coming from Russia will give lots of snow it was to be read in todays paper. So I guess it was the right thing for C to put away his bike for the season. I am going to dig out my winter coat for tomorrow. The temperature is also expected to drop.
However, I still think that Stockholm is a beautiful city even if it is covered in grey.
